I Klatus
“Surveillance & Worship” Review
I received the album “Surveillance &
Worship” from the band I Klatus a few weeks ago. It came
with some flyers with a bit of artwork. The design work for
the cover was by Tom Denney from the band. Definitely, cool
stuff. Anyway, I popped this disk into the stereo in my
truck on my way to work. I did not really know what to
expect as with much of the music I receive. The song “the
Rift” starts it off with this nearly 3 minute intro with a
bit of slumber tones and then just opens wide up with a very
black metal vocal style that just captured me. This song is
an A+ in my book and I found myself getting the CD out over
the passed few weeks just to listen to this one song. The
problem with me is after this song this particular vocal
style only shows up a bit more the entire album.

However, it is
not a one hit wonder as the entire album is very good. “Surveillance & Worship” has great
sound effects and plenty of mood altering tracks that give
it a nice variety as you go though the entire album. I
really wish the same vocals as the first track showed up in other songs more. It has
great voiceover effects and pretty well written material.
The bass level on this album will blow you away. I am a
sucker for strong bass. My shitty truck stereo couldn’t
handle it at the high volume I wanted to enjoy it at. I
hope I Klatus will watch the noise factor of having too many
sound effects. Definitely don’t stop experimenting but make
sure it won’t distract too much either.
I want to see a lot more from this
band. They deserve to be checked out. I Katus have put out an
album done their way and there is no commercial crap with
it. These guys have a vision and they do not compromise
their goal. I get that from this release. I just hope that
they can continue to release more. They will need your
support.
I just read on their myspace page that
I Klatus has suffered a terrible loss with the death of
their bassist Tariq. My sympathy goes out to you and your
families during this tragedy.
