The best metal
band in the world in my opinion. We need more metal bands
today like Omen.
Omen has
enjoyed a small cult following among head bangers since the
early '80s. Omen is best-known for melodic yet aggressive
power metal. The band was formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by
lead guitarist Kenny Powell. The band's early members
included lead singer J.D. Kimball, bassist Jody Henry, and
drummer Steve Wittig. In 1984, Omen signed with the
L.A.-based Metal Blade Records and recorded their
debut album, Battle Cry, which was followed by Warning of
Danger in 1985, The Curse in 1986, Nightmares in 1987, and
Escape to Nowhere in 1988.
I have talked
to Kenny Powell personally on the phone, while I was
designing his website. Let me tell you their is no nicer and
respectful guy. He truly appreciates his fans. If you have
not listened to the first three albums from Omen, you are
missing out! I can't really list songs here, because I would have
to list them all.
Omen is
currently working on new material. They have gone back to
the roots that make them great. Please check out their new
Live album 20 years in the making.
